I’ve spent ten years learning that the best accessories aren’t the loudest ones in the room. They’re the ones people lean in to look at twice.
Which is exactly what the 50 Phantoms do.
For the fourth year in a row, Spinnaker and French watch designer seconde/seconde/ are bringing back their ghost-speckled collab — and this year they’ve done something I actually didn’t see coming. Instead of one watch, there are two. One with its ghosts on full display. One that keeps them completely hidden until you decide to look closer.

Both launch on Spinnaker’s site on October 16, 2026, at 12:30 a.m. Eastern, at $600 apiece. If you sign up in advance on spinnaker.com, you get access a full hour before the official drop. (Yes, it’s worth the alarm.)
The edit, in one line
If you want a watch that announces itself, get the Crazy. If you want one that whispers, get the Quiet. Both are $600, both are 40mm, both come with three straps. The only real question is: how loud do you want to be?
First, the backstory (yes, it’s about ghosts)
The 50 Phantoms started as a bit of wordplay: a dive watch inspired by the iconic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, speckled with 50 luminous little ghosts. It was meant to be a joke that stuck. Four years later, it’s a full series with a devoted following — and the two people behind it, Spinnaker and Romaric André (the artist behind seconde/seconde/), are still finding new ways to play with the same simple idea.
André made his name modifying vintage watches — Rolex, Omega — with clever, playful changes to their hands. Spinnaker built its identity on colorful, relatively affordable watches that refuse to take the whole watchmaking world too seriously. Together, they’ve made a collab that doesn’t feel like a collab. It feels like two people with the same sense of humor.

The Crazy: ghosts on full display
Limited to an initial run of 1,500 pieces, the Crazy edition is exactly what the name suggests. The phantoms are clearly visible in daylight — printed and embossed figures scattered across a layered white dial, positioned at different depths beneath the sapphire crystal.
The effect is genuinely three-dimensional. In dim light, the ghosts shift into luminous shades of blue, green, white, and yellow. It’s playful without being childish, which is a harder line to walk than it sounds.
The Quiet: the understated one
The Quiet edition narrows its initial availability to 850 pieces, and its phantoms are, as the name suggests, much less conspicuous. At first glance, the matte white dial looks almost conventional — silver hour markers, no obvious pattern, nothing to catch the eye.
Then you shine the included UV flashlight across the surface, and 50 hidden ghosts reveal themselves. It’s the most understated edition of the series to date, and it’s also the slimmest: 11.8mm thick, compared to the Crazy’s 12.15mm. If you’re the type who likes a watch that looks like a watch until someone asks to see it, this is the one.

What they have in common
Both variants are part of Spinnaker’s Fleuss collection — 40mm stainless steel cases, polished white ceramic bezels with an undulating edge inspired by the hem of a ghost’s sheet (a small detail that carries the whole collaboration’s playful character beyond the dial). Both are powered by the Miyota 9039 automatic movement.
Each watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet and two additional straps at no extra charge: an orange nylon strap for a bold contrasting accent, and a white silicone strap for a more monochromatic look. On the Crazy, the silicone strap has ghost-shaped cutouts. On the Quiet, it glows in the dark. At $600, that’s three strap options for the price of one. Do the math.

A note from Margot
I once bought a “statement” watch I wore exactly three times before it stopped being statement and started being commitment. These two are the opposite: quiet enough for a Tuesday, weird enough to keep. That’s the sweet spot. Edit, don’t shop — but if you’re going to shop, shop for the thing that makes you smile at 12:30 a.m.
