Dressing for the office in summer always feels like its own little puzzle. The heat outside, the air conditioning blasting inside, and the fact that your usual work pants just do not cut it anymore.
I’m sharing three outfits today that solved exactly that problem for me. Each one is a simple formula you can rebuild with whatever’s already in your closet — straight from my Summer 2026 Wardrobe & Outfit Guide.
Outfit #1: Light Neutral Pants + Printed Top

This is the easiest formula to start with. White or ecru pants paired with a printed top gives you an instant fresh, summery look. It works especially well when the print has white in it — the white ties everything together and makes the outfit feel pulled-together without trying too hard.
You can rotate almost any printed top into this equation. I don’t own the exact one in the photo above, but I have a very similar style that I reach for all the time.

Outfit #2: Colored Skirt + Neutral Blouse
This is one of those workday styles you can copy again and again. Once the formula clicks, it’s just a colored skirt plus a neutral blouse — done.
Your skirt doesn’t have to be colored, but it does make it feel like you tried harder with the same amount of effort. A splash of color keeps things lively and fresh for summer vibes.
This skirt is one of my go-to pieces. It looks effortlessly polished but has a fully elastic waistband, so comfort isn’t sacrificed at all. It comes in tons of colors.

Outfit #3: Neutral Top + Colored Bottoms

Last but not least, here’s a hot-weather outfit that proves comfortable and polished are not mutually exclusive.
Colored pants with a neutral top — use this formula with any shade. This bright tomato red makes a standout look, but it works just as well in baby blue, light pink, or teal. The tomato red is really popular this season.
The red pants are a linen blend: lightweight for summer but still polished enough for the office. They come in straight, plus, tall, and petite sizes (though petite runs low on stock right now). I wear size 28 in these.
I also love the same formula with teal linen pants from Nordstrom — another linen blend that’s lightweight but structured. These run large and loosen up through the day, so I sized down to a 4.
